Ozark Christian College is a private, not-for-profit college located at Joplin, Missouri. It was originally established in Bentonville, Arkansas by Seth Wilson on June 12, 1942. It occupies a spacious 95-acre campus which is just a short drive from four major cities namely Kansas City, MO; Tulsa, OK; Branson, MO; and Fayetteville, AR.
The college was founded as a traditional four-year Bible College with a mission to train men and women for Christian service through an undergraduate Bible College education. It goes by its motto “Not to Be Served But to Serve” which encapsulates the commitment of teachers, staff and students to love and serve others.
Ozark Christian College operates on some basic beliefs including having the Bible as its final rule of faith and practice, speaking the truth, trusting in the power of God, acceptance of people in spite of imperfections, restoring Biblical Christianity, and gaining spiritual health through genuine worship. The college’s ultimate mission is the glorification of God through the evangelization of the lost and the edification of Christians all over the world.
The academic programs of Ozark Christian College focus on Bible, Christian History, Ministry, and related topics. It boasts of the highest standards of learning for biblical and ministerial education. It is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) to award associate and bachelor’s degree as well as certificate programs. It is also listed in the Higher Education Directory and is approved to train veterans and non-immigrant foreign students. Also offered are music ministry and deaf ministry. The college is a member of the Evangelical Council on Financial Accountability and is affiliated with the Restoration Movement.
Regular full-time students pay tuition of $ 300.00 per hour taken for credit plus various fees for on-campus parking, enrollment/student services, and application fee. Estimated cost per semester is $ 7,090.00 inclusive of tuition for 15 credit hours, 12 meal tickets, double room, student service fee, and books. Student service fee includes use of medical office service, library, learning center and facilities, and academic computing lab; admittance to most Ozark Christian College sponsored events and athletic events; yearbook; weekly Ozark update, and student directory ID; and intramural sports. On-campus housing is only available to unmarried students.
The school offers a variety of financial aid programs including Federal Student Aid, Institutional and Memorial Grant, President’s and Dean’s Scholarship, as well as Pell Grant and student loans. There are also several outside scholarships available such as those offered by the Alexander Christian Foundation. Scholarships and Awards offered by Ozark Christian College in recognition of academic achievement as well as outstanding leadership and Christian service include the Ambassador Preaching Scholarship, Bible Bowl, and Christian Character which are available only to full-time and degree seeking students. Students can qualify for more than one scholarship or award.
Total student population is about 700 of which 41.8% are female and 58.2 % are male. Student to faculty ratio is 17 to 1. There are six residence halls available to students comprised of 3 for men and 3 for women. Campus activities are not only limited to academics as students are encouraged to participate in drama, music, and intramural sports activities.
The athletic teams of the school are known as Ambassadors. Competing teams consist of men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s baseball, women’s volleyball, and men’s soccer. Ozark’s athletic teams are members of the Midwest Christian College Conference.
