Clearwater Christian College or CCC is a non-denominational Christian college located in Clearwater, Florida. The school was founded by Arthur E. Steele and opened its academic doors on September 17, 1966. It presently occupies a 138-acre property on Tampa Bay.
Although having no denominational affiliation, most of the students, faculty and staff have Baptist or other Independent Bible Church backgrounds. The doctrinal statement of the college provides the word of God as the foundation of its operation and is focused in the historic fundamentals of Protestant Christianity. Its educational core values consist of stewardship, scholarship, discipleship and servant-leadership.
The college’s academic programs include a traditional core liberal arts curriculum plus 25 majors, 18 minors, or the one year Bible Certificate. Offered majors include Bible, Church Ministries, Pastoral Studies, Biology Education, Elementary Education, English Education, Mathematics Education, Music Education, Physical Education, Social Studies Education, English, General Studies, History, Humanities, Interdisciplinary Studies, Pre-Law, Accounting, Business Administration, Communication Arts, Music, Biology, Exercise and Sports Science, Mathematics, Pre-Med, and Psychology.
All four-year graduates of CCC automatically earn a Minor in Bible. Minors include Accounting, Biblical Language, Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Church Ministries, Communication Arts, Computer Information System, Criminal Justice, English, History, Journalism/Mass Communication, Mathematics, Military Science, Missions Music, Psychology, and Theater. Clearwater Christian College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award degrees including Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Education.
Full-time resident students are charged a yearly total of $ 23,720.00 inclusive of tuition based on 12 to 16 hours per semester, room, and board. Full-time commuter students pay $ 16,250.00 for tuition, also based on the same number of hours per semester and $ 250.00 per additional hour above 16 hours. Per hour rate for part-time students is $ 635.00.
The college offers financial aid through scholarship programs including Servant Leadership Scholarship, Music Scholarship and Business Scholarship. There are also grants and loans available to qualified students. Prospective students are advised to contact the college’s Financial Aid Team to discuss personal and specific concerns regarding education costs. Clearwater Christian College offers its students the Cost Freeze Program which allows students to lock their tuition and room charge based on the rate they were given when they began their studies in CCC.
Clearwater Christian College has about 600 students, 80% of which are residents while the rest are commuters. It is a co-educational institution which offers a variety of student activities and organizations such as student government, Greek letter organizations, fine arts, student newspaper, and many others. Students are required to observe school regulations as to dress code, daily chapel attendance, limited physical contact with members of the opposite sex, and room cleanliness. Discipline is provided through combined infraction points, fines, and other related procedures.
The intercollegiate athletic teams of CCC are known as the Cougars. These teams have been fairly successful in past National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division II events. The most successful teams are the women’s volleyball team and the men’s soccer team.
