Baptist Bible College

Baptist Bible College (BBC) is a private and conservative Bible college located in Springfield, Missouri. It was founded in 1950 as a result of a meeting of Baptist ministers. The pastor of the Temple of Baptist Church served as the founding president until 1975. It is affiliated with the Baptist Bible Fellowship International.

BBC exists primarily to provide biblical higher education through a Christ-centered curriculum. The program curriculum has been designed to encourage a biblical world view intended to empower students in making an impact on the global society. The biblically-based philosophy of education seeks to lead students in glorifying and serving God. Students are expected to engage in life-long learning in serving Christ whether in ministry or professions.

Accreditation is provided by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Baptist Bible College is also a member of the Association for Biblical Higher Education. It offers associate and bachelor degree programs as well as certificate programs.

Degree programs offered include Associate of Arts in Office Technology, Early Childhood Education, and Church Music as well. Bachelor of Arts/Science in Pastoral Studies, Missions, Church Education, Youth Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Office Administration, Business Management, Intercultural Studies, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Church Music, and Music Education. Minor areas of study include Youth, Business Management, Missions, Children’s Ministry, Intercultural Studies, TESOL, English, Communications, and Bible Counseling. Certificate Programs include the 32-credit Certificate of Practical Church Ministries and the 19-credit Certificate of Bible Knowledge. A Bachelor’s of Arts degree require students to complete at least 12 hours of the same language or six hours of a language plus 6 hours of linguistics.

Tuition at Baptist Bible College is $13,610.00 annually for full-time students taking 12 to 18 hours of coursework. Room and board costs approximately $5,400.00 per year. Part-time students are charged $210.00 pre credit hour.

Financial aid is provided through the Pell Grant Program, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Direct Loan Program, and Veterans Administration Benefits. A completed FAFSA application is required to be eligible for financial aid. The Founder’s Scholarship is awarded to students upon admission to the college based on prior GPA. The US Department of education has issued regulations regarding the need to maintain standards of satisfactory academic progress specifically for those availing of the PELL Grant Program and the Federal Stafford Loan. This will take into account the hours attempted and completed as well as the cumulative GPA.

Baptist Bible College is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association Division II. It fields athletic teams for men’s basketball and women’s volleyball known as the Patriots. There are plans to add a women’s soccer team and a men’s golf team in the very near future. The Athletic programs of BBC provide opportunities of learning the value of teamwork, hard work, responsibility, determination, self-control, and submission to authority. Winning and keeping a Christ-like attitude even while competing are both deemed important in the game.

There are about 544 undergraduate students of which 47% are women and 53% are men. Resident students comprise 61% of the total student body. There are at least 6 other countries aside from the US represented in the student population.
